Because office tenants pay their pro-rata share of the operating expenses of a building, the ability of management to effectively manage the building is extremely important to the tenant.  The Brookstone and its management team have in the past and continue to diligently pursue every opportunity to reduce costs.

In 2003 when the Brookstone was awarded the prestigious ENERGY STAR AWARD, it was one of only three privately owned buildings in the entire City of Phoenix to have received the award.

It is estimated that the numerous steps taken by management over the past two or three years have reduced the annual cost of electricity by more than $100,000. Similar steps have been taken to reduce water consumption, sewer fees, property taxes and a multitude of other operating costs.

TJ. Pappas School Toy Drive: <click to learn more>

What if you could wish, beyond all wildest dreams of ever coming true, for that certain present – and you could put that wish on a brightly decorated tree in an office building?. . The problem was easy to see, a downturn in the economy and a homeless school with a drop in donations. Would this Christmas be a “lump of coal in the stocking” year? Here was the plan. Put the trees up early, one in each lobby. The tags on the trees would identify a wish from a child for a present. Pass a memo out to the tenants and let them know that “coal” is out and “presents” are in. The rest became a tradition here at the Brookstone.

 

Afgan Children's Fund: <click to learn more>

We heard on the radio that the President was challenging the children of America to raise funds for children of Afghanistan.

Question: How could the children of a homeless school meet the challenge?
Answer: We sponsored a car wash! Funds were raised to send to President Bush, and when the tenants heard of the need for shoes an even larger amount was donated to the shoe fund.
